Hi everyone, am I able to land in Chiang Mai and pay for a visa on arrival even if I don't have a ticket booked to exit the country?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (O/P) inquired about obtaining a visa on arrival in Chiang Mai without an exit ticket. It was clarified that the O/P holds a New Zealand passport, which allows for a 30-day visa exempt entry upon arrival. The discussion also noted sources of confusion regarding visa terminology and encouraged clearer communication in future inquiries.

I think a LOT of the confusion was

A) the name of the O/P

B) the term "buy a visa on arrival"

:/ :( Those started this topic off on the wrong foot.

Tod, just a suggestion. Why don't you just keep this open for you, Lloyd and the few other experts. Everyone wants to act like an expert here just to see their name in lights anymore and put out much misinformation. Wasn't like this in the beginning when it first opened. Leave all that crap to the "Bangkok Expat" group.

Okay, I deleted all the comments in this thread because they were all over the place.

The O/P said (in a now deleted comment) she has a New Zealand passport.

She will get a 30 day visa exempt entry when she arrives.

Note to the O/P: it would have been a good idea to say what country your passport was from when you made the original post.
