Greetings All.  Does immigration grant visa extention in the case where there is a lot of political turmoil and related violence back in my home country?

You need to talk to your own embassy in Thailand. For immigration side, there is an extension based on embassy request. For this, your embassy has to issue a letter to ask the immgration bureau to grant an extension to you. And if immigration office accept that letter, they will give you an extension.
