Hey All... we just left the new Immigration compound at Muangthong Thani that’s handling most Bangkok-based visas. We thought we’d try to proactively extend our 30-day tourist visas in the event the amnesty isn’t extended.
No go. At least for passport holders like us whose embassies aren’t providing support letters. The sympathetic immigration officer said any such extensions require the letter.
For what it’s worth, the compound was largely deserted for now but they seem to be ready to handle large crowds—lots of numbered seats, etc.
TLDR : Answer Summary
A visitor to the Muangthong Thani Immigration compound in Bangkok reported that they were unable to extend their 30-day tourist visa due to the lack of a support letter from their embassy. The immigration officer indicated that such extensions require this letter, despite the office being prepared for larger crowds.
