TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to extend your 60-day visa exemption in Thailand or apply for an Ed (Education) visa without leaving the country. You can extend your stay by 30 days at immigration, but to apply for an Ed visa, you need to have at least one month left on your visa validity. Although you can obtain an Ed visa locally, it may cost around 10,000 baht, and some suggest that traveling to another country for the application process might be more beneficial.
You can get an ED visa without leaving the country but it is extra.
Not sure but 10k baht was my quote last year. Personally i would go to another country and apply myself and spend the 10k. If you don't want to leave the country then the 60 days is enough time to change, when it was 30 days it didn't give us enough time.
