I'm arriving in October, leaving in December, from the UK.. A total of 58 days, visiting my wife and daughter. I've previously got the 90 visas as I've stayed longer. (My last 3 passport entries.)
Going onto the evisa website the options are for 60+ days. Im visiting immigration after I arrive to get my house book sorted, to open a bank account.
Am I ok to arrive on the 60 day visa exemption? Technically I'm not a tourist, but visiting family.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is arriving in Thailand for 58 days to visit family and considering the 60-day visa exemption. However, comments suggest that to open a bank account in Thailand, a Non-O Visa is required, as the 60-day visa exemption is generally classified as a tourist visa and may not meet the new requirements for banking.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.

You'll (most likely) not be able to open a bank account on a 60 days visa exempt or on a 60 days tourist visa. New rules since February. And you're actually a tourist if you arrive on either of these options.
