Whit a LTR wealthy pensioner visa it say that income from home country is tax free. But because of dual tax agreement its more benifitial for me to pay tax.

Is the tax free income mandatory withvthe visa or can you choose to file and pay tax.

I have sent email to tax administration but no answer.
Answer summary
The post discusses the tax implications for holders of the LTR (Long-Term Resident) wealthy pensioner visa in Thailand, particularly concerning the tax-free income clause. It raises the question of whether tax-free income is a mandatory requirement of the visa or if the holder can opt to file and pay taxes based on the benefits offered by dual tax agreements. The author has not yet received a response from the tax administration regarding this inquiry.

Same same. I have DTV since last year, enter Thailand, often Chiang Mai, every month. Many years of past history in Thailand on every visa under the sun, have never been pulled aside. Dress smart, say sawatdii, smile 😁.

As long as your application was genuine, there’s no need to worry. Just carry everything with you! I applied under the medical route and have entered 5 times since Dec 2024. I have to have appointments every 3 months and always have at least 2 future booked appointments to show whenever I re-enter. I also carry my original UK medical documents as well as prior attended appointments, receipts and medical certificates. For my last entry I spoke to Bangkok Hospital’s visa department (Pattaya) and asked for a detailed report of all my prior appointments! The file I carry is huge and so far as yet have not been asked any other question than “how long is your stay this entry” see if your BK hospital can give you a detailed report, I think it cost me around 300 baht!

As long as you also have future appointments for your medical treatment there is no risk at all to get denied.

I studied Thai on an ED visa for two years, then English for one year. I was already receiving medical treatment during that time, so I stayed on an ED visa because the DTV visa didn't exist yet.

Once the DTV visa became available, I switched to it since it was more appropriate for my situation.

Floryn_Fyre would appreciate how you arranged with the hospital for DTV. Do they provide DTV support documents when you apply? how frequent is your medical appointments?

appreciate any info you can provide. Hope things go well for your recovery

In my case, I had already undergone spinal surgery. When I applied for the DTV visa, my doctor confirmed that I would require another surgery in the future. The hospital prepared all the necessary supporting documents, including the doctor's medical letter, as well as a letter addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in the country where I submitted my DTV visa application.

My follow-up appointments are usually six months, although I also visit the hospital whenever necessary. In addition to my spine condition, I have regular appointments for other minor medical issues as well, so I continue to have ongoing medical follow-ups.

I hope this information is helpful. Wishing you all the best with your application.

Floryn_Fyre So why should there be a problem then, it is true Immigration ad other authorities more and more check if foreigners comply with rules, but as long as you comply I see no reason why you should have a problem.

If you have a genuine visa received on honest grounds, you don’t really have any reason to be worried. If you get questioned, just remain calm and answer honestly

I have been questioned twice. At first I was nervous too but the IOs were actually quite friendly on both occasions

Floryn_Fyre was it for Thai language study? If yes..be prepared for questions in Thai language from the Thai Immigration officers.

Otherwise just be polite and calm with your Thai Immigration entry as before.

Long as it's a genuine case you have nothing to worry about, only issues arise from people being dishonest about the situation

You will be fine. I can only think of one confirmed case of a DTV holder not allowed entry. The gym was called and they were unknown to the gym. There have been some people had some questions but allowed in. That is still very rare anyone pulled for further questions. You will be fine.
