TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses the possibility of purchasing a re-entry permit at Chiang Mai (CM) airport after changing travel plans from Bangkok (BKK). Responses suggest it is safer to obtain the permit at the Chiang Mai immigration office. However, there may be a counter at the airport that issues re-entry permits, located before the immigration checkpoint. It's advised to verify this information by calling the Chiang Mai immigration office.

This information is a year old: there should be a counter specifically designed for issuing re-entry permit at Chiangmai airport. After you pass the security check point, look to the left. There should be a counter that issues re-entry permit. It is before the immigration check point.

Both me an my father have used that counter many times. But it was BEFORE they remodel the area. If I were you, I would call immigration office at Chiangmai airport and ask.

And remember, because the counter is before immigration check point, I believe you can always turn around and leave.

I would post this question in a chiang mai related f/b group because you'll get more accurate info.

Like CHIANG MAI EXPATS, or Chiang Mai Digital Nomads.
