Am I correct in thinking that my friend from Myanmar who has a B non immigrant visa and a work permit will need to purchase a re entry permit if he is leaving Thailand for a couple of days. If leaving from Phuket airport can this be purchased at the airport.

This applies to any Visa which is not multi-entry to enable you to maintain your current Visa status and exit by date when re-entering the country

Doesn’t apply to the first year of a OA visa as that’s multiple entry. It does apply to the “second” year of the OA and most non O visas. There are some year long Non Os that are multiple entry but few and far between.

yes , you have to just inform your immigration centre that you are coming back so they will give you stamp for that , you have to pay some amount.

not if you have retirement visa already. Don't you buy a re-entry permit when leaving?

if your visa is not multiple entry visa then you have to inform immigration for re-entry. 1000 baht for visa single entry and 3800 baht for multiple retirement visa . Please check your visa it’s multiple or single entry.
