Can I apply for a spousal DTV after marrying in Thailand for just one month?

Hello, I am currently in BKK on a visa exempt 60 day stamp.

My partner is going to Turkey at the end of the month and applying for DTV.

Before he leaves we were thinking of eloping here in Thailand (we’ve been together for quite some time, but for visa reason eloping would be necessary since I don’t meet the monetary savings minimum on my own). I was considering staying back in Thailand for the week or so he’s in Turkey, he’s planing on applying for DTV while he’s there. He’s a fully remote work from anywhere employee, I don’t see him having issue getting DTV.

Ideally I’d then get DTV by being his spouse.

Would this work since we’d only be married in Thailand for about a month?

Would I then need to leave Thailand myself to apply for spousal DTV?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the possibility of applying for a spousal DTV visa after a couple elopes in Thailand, specifically when the marriage is only about a month old. The original poster is currently on a 60-day visa-exempt stamp and is considering staying in Thailand while their partner applies for the DTV in Turkey. Comments indicate that it is feasible to apply for the DTV as a spouse, as long as the partner meets the financial requirements for sponsorship. Additionally, several users provide insights on the marriage process in Thailand for foreigners, noting potential challenges and the importance of having the necessary funds for visa sponsorship.

How easy is it for 2 foreigners to get married in Thailand? I only know friends who have married Thais and they had a lot of running around to do to get certificate from Embassy. Have it officially translated and affirmed at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then it was hard to get appointment at Amphur so paid a facilitation fee for an early appointment. I think in the end he paid an agent to do it all.

You can apply at any Thai embassies in Asia especially Taipei and jakarta. I heard many DTV got approved in Taipei and jakarta. Or you can try to apply in Bangkok. My friends from China applied for DTV while they are still in Bangkok. I applied in Singapore. The staff is very strict with the requirements

It will work. Just make sure he has the required funds to sponsor the spouse application. Some embassies want to see 1M THB if sponsoring, compared to the normal 500K THB.
