Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹ can you confirm it is still possible to apply for a non immigrant O retirement visa (1 year) from within Thailand by following this process:

1. enter Thailand on a tourist visa

2. then apply for 90 day Non Immigrant visa

3. during the 90 day period then applying for the 12 month retirement visa with necessary supporting docs including bank confirmation of 800,000 baht and proof of residence

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is still possible to apply for a Non-Immigrant O Retirement Visa from within Thailand, provided you have a Thai bank account to meet the financial requirements. The process involves entering Thailand on a tourist visa, then applying for a 90-day Non-Immigrant visa, and during this period, you can apply for the 12-month retirement visa with the necessary supporting documents.

Trust me on this Brandon as usual is 100% correct and I've also been through the process he's described so I know it's true

As long as you already have a bank account in Thailand, it's still possible. That's because for #2 you must have the 800,000 in a Thai bank account to apply for the visa. You won't be able to open a bank account as a tourist, so you will either need to arrive with the visa from a Thai embassy, or already have a Thai bank account to deposit the money.

we now enter on a 60 day (?) visa exempt (Australian) entry, then apply for the 90 day non immigrant visa? I have the funds in a Thai bank account

Then you shouldn't have any issues as long as you can show that the money in your Thai bank account was transferred as an international transfer into Thailand.
