Can I get METV outside of my home country?
I am currently in Laos and want to know if it is possible to apply for METV in Laos. On the website it says you can not but other people online says it’s possible. Anyone have any experience with this? US passport holder. Thank you

You’re expected to show proof that you live in the country from where you’re applying or that you hold a long term visa there. So, in theory, you can’t, however I’ve heard that people have used their entry stamp as proof of “location” in other countries (e.g. people who traveled to Phnom Penh or Kuala Lumpur and applied and paid online from there). But I don’t know if those stories are true.

the specific rule about METV is that you can only apply in your passport country. But about 6 months ago people started reporting getting it in Laos and VietnamF *********************
That’s what I heard but I find that with anything related to Thailand and their embassies it’s a Russian roulette. 😆

It was in Vientiane, first day had to go to the embassy in the morning to pay in Thai baht.

F Rodriguez Irizarry they don't keep your passport and as the queue is just for payment you should only be there a matter of minutes
