Hi everyone!

2 quick qs for you regarding adding dependants to a DTV if anyone can help…🤞

I was granted my DTV before travelling from the UK last month and want to add my hubby and son who are on tourist visas at the moment.

Q1: Do we all need to be out of the country to add dependents?

Q2: Do we need to show 500,000 TBH per applicant ( so 1,500,000 TBH ) in total in our accounts?

Thanks a lot and hope you can help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses the process of adding dependents (a husband and a son) to a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Thailand. The user seeks clarification on whether they all need to leave Thailand to add dependents and what the financial requirements are for the application. Responses indicate that the primary applicant does not need to be out of the country to apply for dependents and that only the primary applicant needs to show 500,000 THB in liquid assets, which can also account for supporting documentation for dependents.

This is what ChatGPT had to say.

1. Do all of you need to leave Thailand to add dependents?

No, you do not all need to exit the country. You can apply in two ways:

• Joint/group application: All dependents (spouse, child) apply together with the primary applicant from outside Thailand or at the same consulate, with each submitting a separate dependent application .

• Staggered approach: You obtain your DTV first, and then your dependents apply afterwards, using your approval as supporting proof .

In both cases, only the dependent visas are separate applications—they do not require the DTV-holder to exit Thailand.

2. Do you need to show THB 500,000 per person (so 1.5 M THB total)?

Not necessarily per person. Thailand’s DTV policy requires at least 500,000 THB in liquid assets for the primary applicant. This can include:

• Your own bank statement,

• OR a family/household account if you provide proof of relationships and a sponsorship letter stating you’ll support the dependents .

According to others’ real-life experience:

• Children and spouses generally don’t each need a full 500k THB in their own accounts.

• As long as you hold the required amount and document that you’re financially responsible, a sponsorship letter from you and your own bank statement often satisfy the requirement, especially for dependents like a child or spouse .

So: You do not have to show 1.5M THB — just one 500k minimum for the main applicant, plus documentation (birth certificate, marriage certificate, sponsorship letter) that you’re supporting your spouse and child.

Don't use ChatGP, it's incorrect more times than it's correct.Just saying.

yet another example of ChatGPT getting things wrong. I really wish people would stop using it for this sort of thing

Hi Jake. Thanks for this but it was soooo inaccurate for my initial application, I’ve given Chat GPT a miss for this 😉 ( You realise this is Stella’s Bella, right ! 😜

1) the person applying for the visa must be outside of Thailand and in the jurisdiction of the embassy the application will be submitted to.

2) each embassy has different policies about this
