I made a trip to Indonesia, after emailing Thai consulate multiple times confirming it would work, and just got rejected.
Has anyone had success adding dependents for a non-immigrant-O visa in the last few months?
I have received emails from Los Angeles, and Jakarta Thai Consulate saying “Only the holder of a Non-Immigrant OA or OX is allowed to have their dependent applied for a Non-Immigration O.”

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the recent rejection of an attempt to add dependents to a Non-Immigrant O visa while traveling to Indonesia. The user mentions having confirmed this process with various Thai consulates, which led to their surprise at the rejection. Commenters clarify that typically, dependents can only be added to Non-Immigrant OA or OX visas and not to Non-O visas, particularly if the holder is a retiree. There are suggestions to switch to the correct visa type (OA or OX) to achieve the goal. Additional experiences and advice from other users indicate similar challenges faced when attempting to add dependents under the Non-O visa category.
