TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can use a Thai bank account for a DTV application. However, it's advisable to provide a consistent transaction history to avoid any concerns regarding your financial activity appearing like employment income. Some respondents shared their experiences and emphasized the importance of having several months of banking statements. Additionally, there are concerns about passport renewal and its impact on the DTV, with questions on whether one needs to start a new application if the passport expires before the DTV period ends.
General question, has anyone run into any issues regarding renewing your passport, I suspect a few have to overcome this as the DTV is 5 years and say your passport expires in 4 yrs, what happens.
Have the Thai authorities come up with a simple solution to up load or register your new passport along side the old one which is registered in the system?
Look forward to anyone who has had to deal with this issue, surely you don’t need to make a fresh DTV application and pay another 10,000+ THB?

Absolutely No reason why it would be an issue.

Yes, you can use a Thai bank account. They did ask me why I had one though. They probably don't want your statement to look like you are working, since local employment is prohibited.
I showed almost a year's record of statements to prove the money was not just added recently for the visa application and that it didn't have regular interval deposits that might look like a salary.
