Can a foreigner obtain Thai citizenship without marrying a Thai citizen?

and while this is an interesting topic it's not thai visa related. There is a TON of information out on the inter-web about acquiring thai citizenship.

Ha, I read an article about a guy trying to do this for five years, he was called before officials several times, had to sing the national anthem in Thai on more than one occasion amongst other crazy things that normal people wouldn’t bother with. He Had to jump through multiple, repetitive hoops (sounded like they wanted him to give up) The guy eventually got there with handful of others for that year. There’s an article on it somewhere in Thai visa.

Sorry to disappoint you boys, but there is a big difference in application for Thai Citizenship for man married to Thai lady and foreign lady married to Thai man or foreign lady having children with Thai Nationality.

You can apply for a Thais citizenship based on having Thai children. The application process starts with application at the Provincial Police Headquarters. I suggest you go there and get a handout with all the requirements.

If you join the Thaivisa.com forum there are some pinned posts that detail exactly how people got Permanent residency, and Thai Citizenship, Not an easy thing, unless you are rich or Chinese......
