Asking for a friend, no really šŸ˜„.

So this friend is Canadian, was in Thailand for 3 months on a tourist visa. Left for China and come back for a renewal of a normal visa.

However, Air China, with which my friend has booked a return ticket ironically, have a waiver signed that the next flight is to anywhere but Thailand.

Anyone had something like this before and what do you think the chances are that the Thai immigration is aware of this and will uphold the waiver?

Or is this something from China and Air China so has nothing to do with Thailand?

Perhaps the airline would deny access to the flight from China?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian traveler seeks advice on returning to Thailand after a tourist visa, particularly regarding an Air China waiver preventing flights back to Thailand. Concerns include the possibility of Thai immigration enforcing this waiver, and whether it's solely an airline policy or has implications for entry into Thailand.

This is to protect the airlines having to repatriate passengers who donā€™t have a return flight booked out of Thailand and some other Countries

Is this the 72 hour visa for china? The condition is you are ā€œin transitā€ from A to B. Cannot return to A.

What exactly has been signed by whom, how, where, when, and who required it?

My friend was asked to sign a waver that the next flight isn't back to Thailand. This was asked by Air China at check in on the Thai side.

She's now in China considering to still use the return ticket or not. The return ticket was also bought before the signing of the waiver.

apparently it's a requirement for that new visa exemption there.

If there's such a waiver signed, would you think Air China would forget about it? I wouldn't.

I don't understand the question. Could you rewrite it in English?

no just didn't understand what you wrote. I think from a later answer you mean they left Thailand to fly to China but had a return ticket for Thailand, correct? If so I'm guessing the airline didn't believe he would be accepted back in to Thailand and didn't want to accept responsibility for him in case he wasn't. It sounds a similar situation to not being allowed to board a flight to Thailand on a one way ticket
