Can European citizens use a 30-day visa waiver and then switch to an METV visa in Thailand?

Hello,

A little question about visa, is it allowed to spend 30 days under the visa waiver for european citizens. Then getting out and return by airplane a few days later under an METV visa?

Could this 30 days waiver jeopardize the METV visa? Anyone experienced it?
