Hi! I appreciate the advice so generously given in this group.
I will arrive at the Royal Thai Embassy in Hanoi on Tuesday, November 13 to apply for an education visa for a one year education course at Pro Language School.
I have what seems like thorough (but I wouldn't know) paperwork prepared by the school.
The school generally recommend their students to travel to Vientiane for an education visa. I found the idea of travel to Hanoi more convenient. They said that they have very little experience with "sending" students to Vietnam embassies. Yet, the few that did go there were approved.
They had only one tip for me regarding Hanoi and that is that I might be asked to provide a bank statement. Yet, they didn't know the amount that is required to prove. So, they contacted the last student that went there and the sum that the student told them was an indecisive 28,000 US dollars. Now, even though I am able to obtain such an amount for availability in my bank account temporarily, for a printed statement, I suspect that this might be far greater than the sum that is required. The only talk of proving funds I've heard of is 20,000 Baht for an individual and 40,000 for a family. I'm an individual.
My planned stay in Hanoi is from Monday to Friday. So I should have 3 consecutive days; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It does say on their website that they're open Mon-Fri.
From searching in this group I have found that proof of a departure from Thailand flight is required, at least for some types of visas. Will it be required of me, as well? I do have a departure from Thailand flight to show as proof, yet it is scheduled for the middle of July. That is in the term of my requested one year course stay but far in the future.
So, there are two questions, here, please. Proof of funds and proof of departure flight.
And any other tips other than dressing respectfully, of course.
