Hi guys.
Just a quick update on my recent single entry tourist visa trip to Vientiane.( I am now back in Thailand by the way.)
The 1st day I was interviewed when applying for the visa. The officer asked to see a bank book/ statement, a certificate from my ed visa school and ongoing travel plans. I was able to get my school to send my certificate but was honest and said that I have no ongoing travel plans. He accepted my paperwork and told me to come back tomorrow as normal.
Day 2 I went to the Consulate to collect my passport and visa. My number wasn't called so I went up to the girl and asked. She told me to go inside where they do the photo copies and wait. So I went in and waited. A young officer called me up and asked what my travel plans are. I spoke politely and in broken but reasonable Thai, and said that I have my whole life in Thailand and that if I am going to leave I will need 3 months to prepare. This appeared to tug on his heart strings as i probably looked a little worried.
Anyway I got the visa and will make sure I have a proper visa next time( any advice on this is welcome.)
Bear in mind I have been in Thailand for 6 years, but I don't have any other tourist visas in my passport, just this one. I hope this story/ information helps someone and thanks to the people that have helped me on this page.
To round it up, take travel plans, bank books/ statements, and if you have studied in the past, all of your study certificates from within Thailand.
Thanks again.
