สตีฟ เตเต้ Okay, International drivers PERMIT. Still, you can only get an International drivers PERMIT in the country that issued your drivers LICENSE.

Since the OP stated that his drivers LICENSE from his home country was out of date and thus non-existent, he asked where in Chiang Mai he could get an International drivers PERMIT because he does have an drivers LICENSE issued from Thailand. Do you get it now???

 Incorrect answer.

You can obtain an international drivers license as a foreigner issued by Thailand. But you need to carry the (Thai) 5 year license. You can't get it on your first 1 year license.

, that’s when you have a UK licence. They don’t issue them for foreign ones, it’s expected you get one before you arrive!

I think in at the same place where you got your Thai license.

In Pattaya it's different. The licensing office in banglamung doesn't issue the idp. For this you have to go to chonburi.

Are you asking where to get an IDP based on your Thai drivers license that you already have?

Or are you asking where to get one based on your drivers license from back home? If this one, you can only get it from your home country.

 I have a 5 year Thai license but my UK one has expired. I am going on holiday in June so I need to hire a car. My Thai license was accepted the last time I went to the UK back in 2017, but I had the IDP just in case. The thing I have forgotten how I got the Permit.
