International License won't really do you any good here.
Basically, you need a motorcycle license to avoid fines.
It took me three days to take the motorcycle course and test. The test was very hard because a lot of the signs were in Thai. The test can be found on YouTube I suggest that you study it because the test is tough.
I did mine in Nong Han, by Udonthani. Day 0. Residency Cert from Immigration…on Visa exempt, at wifes house. Go to Doctor for blood pressure test. Go to DLT with wife as they understand zero english. Get stuff booked for next two days. In the evening check the internet, you tube videos, 150 possible questions.
Day 1, 9 am start watch terrible thai videos with english subtitles… all day until 2 pm. 3 pm test 50 questions… get 49 correct.
Day 2 riding test, 30 people waiting for somebody else to start. Lady looks at me and my honda cbr 650 and says..YOU
Ride the course standing on the pegs as the cbr is not great on corners..ride like toni bou with no feet down. 30 people clap at the end. Lady gives me a paper and says..go get your license i ask about emergency stop test, reaction test, colour test and lady replies…. Go get your licence..i see you ride. In the office, photo, pay the 105 baht…read that again and finish day 2 at 10.00. Not sooo easy on a cbr but wey hey..
The indoor tests are comical. One tests your ability to distinguish between red, (amber) and green lights, this takes 10 seconds. The second tests your braking foot reaction time when watching a green light change to a red light, this takes about 20 seconds. You take these tests en masse with around 10 other people. A Korean man couldn't understand the instructions so they asked him to wait until everyone else had finished and left the room. God forbid they passed him.
Just use a agent they will take u and return you and handle everthing i done it no video watching required as i already had a bike licence in oz no need for a internatioal drivers permit just book straight with agent 3 very simple tests to take first licence they give u 2 years second one 5 years can get car and bike same time no riding test required
