I highly recommend going to the local immigration office and ask and do everything youself. Its not that difficult, they will tell you what you need and then you go get and do what you need to do to get your long stay visa.

Actual agents a lot of really dodgy ones in Phuket recently there was big problems with a few agents. Few people ended up having to leave country and blacklisted as well
