What visa options do I have for staying in Thailand longer with multiple trips planned?

Hey everyone, I got a few questions about my stay in Thailand regarding visas, hope someone can help.

I arrived a bit more than a month ago in Thailand (30 day exemption) and as I really liked it planned to stay a bit longer, so i went to Hong Kong for a few days and got a new 30 days exemption which is valid till 2nd January (however, the immigration officer already asked some questions before letting me in)

I want to stay in the country until the end of January, maybe February but to not have any troubles I'd like to have a proper visa, especially as I will also leave the country from time to time I'm not sure where and which one i should get.

My schedule looks like this:

5th-10th Laos (Vientiane). I'm busy during the whole time with work, but if needed i could ditch my flight and stay some days longer to apply for a visa.

24th-28th Kuala Lumpur / here I'd have time to go to an immigration office

17th-24th January Maldives / last trip before I'd leave thailand.

So would i need to apply for a multiple entry visa? If yes, can I do this in Thailand (i stay in bkk right now) or do i need to do it in another country?

Btw my passport is from Switzerland if that matters.

Appreciate any help,

Best Michael

TLDR : Answer Summary
Michael is seeking guidance on visa options for extending his stay in Thailand, as he is currently on a 30-day visa exemption but wishes to remain until late January or February. He is considering his travel plans, which include trips to Laos and Kuala Lumpur, and is uncertain whether to apply for a multiple-entry visa or a single-entry visa with a re-entry permit. The comments provide advice on extending his current entry, utilizing the 30-day exemption, and ensuring he has sufficient funds and proof of onward travel to avoid any issues at immigration.

, as long as you don't have a history of LIVING here on back-2-back visa exempt entries you're unlikely to have a problem.

Have proof of funds (20K baht in cash) and proof of onward travel when you stamp into the country.

yep, being denied entry doesn't mean you're banned from thailand, it means you weren't allowed IN at that entry point.

Alright sounds good. As I have an apartment, would it be good to book a night in a cheap hostel just in case too as a proof?

I'll see that i have 20k baht and an onward ticket. Just one last question:

If I'd be denied at suvarnabhumi airport once, could i still just fly to laos and apply for a visa there?

Use the free 30 day visa exemption since you aren't staying in Thailand longer than 30 days per visit. You can't apply for a multiple entry visa unless you go back to your home country. But you don't even need to apply for a tourist visa because your plans you are leaving Thailand less than 30 days at a time.

. Says who?

Those are people who have been living in Thailand for years on tourist visas. 6 visa exempt entries is nothing to worry about.

That was the initial plan but since some weeks I'm reading scary stories of people getting rejected at the immigration. Since I'd have 5 or 6 entries I'm not sure if it will work?

or your country of residence and some place in Australia as well

go for single entry and buy if needed a re entry permit
