TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking advice on the type of visa needed for a birthday trip to Thailand in August, along with recommendations for places to stay in Bangkok. They are also considering moving to Thailand in the future and want preliminary information. Comments suggest that U.S. citizens can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days. Recommendations for accommodations vary based on personal preferences and activities, with options like the IBIS Riverside and tips on exploring different areas in Bangkok.
I dont really think you should even be allowed to get on the plane my friend!

You do not need a visa from USA to Thailand. Within 3 days before you leave Google tdac and fill out the form online and when you get to Thailand it'll all automatically be in their system. As for where you want to live you have to have more information do you want a condo do you want a house there's no houses in the main city of Bangkok you have to go on the outskirts and it depends what you plan on doing if you have a family there's a lot of variations
I would then definitely check out the Chinese area. Find a place close to Song Sawat. Great for walking. Lots to see, do, eat and drink. Every first timer I show BKK I also take on the bicycle tour. Loads of fun and you see BKK from a whole different side. Google Co van Kessel Bangkok. Have fun!
There is more to Thailand than just Bangkok, if you are planning to live here then spend a couple of months looking for areas that would suit you and your needs.
you get 60 days upon arrival so dont need visa. Where to stay also depends what you want to do Bangkok is big. I personally like IBIS riverside nice clean rooms, great location and good breakfast
