I have a bit of an odd visa/work permit question. (Late 2021 or 2022)

All this may or may not happen AFTER the covids issues die down. Next year or later. I just want to get an idea if it is even possible and how.

I would like to bring a consultant in to talk and give presentations. How does this work? Is he covered by the parent company to consult? What permit is needed? It will only be for 4-7 days.

I want to be able to advertise this as well so it needs to be on the up and up.

How do work permits work for say, competitive athletes? Motorsports? Etc etc.

My plan is to bring him in for a few days to do consults and maybe a lecture.

Where do i start?

Thanks for the info.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the process of bringing a consultant to Thailand for a short-term engagement (4-7 days) to give lectures and consult, focusing on the necessary visa and work permit requirements. Key insights from the comments indicate that both the poster and the consultant would require a Non-Immigrant 'B' visa to enter Thailand for business purposes, along with a work permit (WP). Although some suggest that companies often circumvent strict permit requirements by bringing people in under Visa Exempt status, there is a concern about legality and the potential for being reported by vigilant observers. Additionally, considerations regarding quarantine and flight availability due to ongoing pandemic restrictions are noted.

You can get a temp WP for this ie short term. To be honest most do not bother about getting one. Companies fly in people to speak and train and speak all the time outside of the pandemic. Many regional offices in Singapore just send people up on Visa Exempt as too much hassle getting Non-B as they would only give single entry at Embassy to non Sinkies

thanks. I am just worried about doing some advertising and a bit of outsourcing.

All the “do gooder police type foreigners “ that wanna turn everyone in.

Like the guys that say “does he have a work permit” about the farang that are picking up trash in the streets.

Thanks i will look into the temp permit. Cheers

Better safe than sorry. We asked company lawyer and visa agent about myself and others coming up to deliver training in Bangkok office from Singapore. Never got a straight answer. 😉

You can get him to apply for a non immigrant visa type B to enter Thailand for business purpose. But he must be quarantined for 14 days once he arrives in Thailand. Need to factor this in. Also, flights are still not back to normal, operating on “semi commercial” basis, so getting a confirmed flight to Bangkok will not be straightforward.

Don't matter what work you do even volunteer needs visa for work ...

I'm pretty sure he needs a WP too. I remember seeing the signs that "modeling is work, models need work permits" too.

You and him both need to have non immigrants 'B' visa .. Then you can apply for a work permit. When you arrive here in Thailand.
