TLDR : Answer Summary
When traveling from the USA to Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines, you mainly need your USA passport. Generally, these countries offer visa exemption or visa on arrival for US passport holders. For Vietnam, however, you may need to apply for an online visa prior to arrival. Ensure you also have your boarding passes and sufficient funds for your travels.
