Greetings

I have decided to study Thai for a year and have some questions.

I have been in Thailand since October, entered once on exemption, extended 30 day once and then 90 days extension due to medical reasons (had come to undergo surgery and subsequent recovery).

I now wish to study here at one a Thai Language school (AUA) and will need to apply outside the country for the visa.

Will my previous visas effect my current application ?

What is the best country to visit to apply for a visa (British Passport, hope to avoid air travel and travel by land) ?

How long will the process take once outside the country ?

Thanks in advance !

Nathan

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on how previous visa extensions may affect their application for an Education (ED) visa to study at a Thai language school while in Thailand on a British passport. They inquire about the best country for visa application, processing times, and the role of the language school in the process.

I would talk to your school. I understand it's easy to get an ED visa in Savannakhet or Vientiane, however you will need to show bank statements.

you do not mention any visa, so not sure if you have visa not mentioned in your passport. You go to a school, arrange your education and they will give you all the documents needed to apply for the ED visa and tell you to which city you have to travel as their documents are addressed to the consul of city ......

Thanks for seeing through my ignorance and bothering to have the patience to explain as much to me :)

You came into Thailand using the 30 day Visa Exempt Entry, applied and got a 30 day Extension of Stay and applied and got a 90 day Extension of Stay, different names. You call them a visa, but in your passport the text in line two is Extension of Stay.

Sorry, didn't understand your comment.

As per visas, my current visa is a 90 day medical visa, ending on March 19th, and before that was 1 extension (30 day) and one exemption (30 day)

The ED visa process is usually initiated by the school. Select an appropriate school and they will advise.
