What should I expect when entering Thailand with a DTV visa at immigration?

I landed in Bangkok (BKK) last night after a 4-day trip to Taiwan. At immigration, the officer called another IO to escort me to a separate room, where I waited for around 30 minutes.

After that, an officer called me over and asked if I had ever used the VIP lane/Fast Track service before. (I had used it once on my first DTV entry last year through an agent.)

I told him that I hadn’t used it this time because I didn’t think I needed it since I have a DTV visa. This was my third entry, and I also didn’t use it on my second entry.

He simply said, “You did the right thing. You don’t need to use that anymore since you have a visa, and immigration officers will no longer provide that service.”

They didn’t ask me anything about my job, my income, or the type of DTV I have. I think the only issue was that I had used the VIP line service once before, and that was it.

After that, they stamped me for 180 days and let me go. That was the entire process.

So, based on my experience, there’s no need to worry too much about some of the scary posts in this group. Of course, everyone’s situation is different, but in my case everything went smoothly, and the only thing they seemed concerned about was my previous use of the Fast Track service.
Answer summary
The post describes a smooth immigration experience at Bangkok's airport upon re-entering Thailand with a DTV visa. The author was briefly taken aside for questioning due to prior use of the Fast Track service but explained they felt no concern regarding their visa status. The officer confirmed that using Fast Track is no longer necessary for DTV visa holders. After a 30-minute wait, they were stamped in for 180 days without further inquiries about their job or income. The author reassures readers that, while experiences vary, their process was straightforward and encouraging.

BKK bank seems to be Thailand's version of Westpacin Oz - Like a plant we have in Victoria called lawyer Vine because, once it gets hold of you, it won't let go.

I’ve never had BKK bank issues…that said, if you were to move banks you would do well to d’obit during the window in which you can withdraw funds to use …although here again you may need additional funds in the new bank initially to not break the balance rules for the current extension…ie 400k if your acct is an 800k account…

don't be a fool. You can get your paperwork done at any big branch but it takes a week. A bank account is very hard to get

I am lucky as I live 3 min from BKK Bank headquarters. I was in there last week to get a new passbook and the first thing she looked at was my visa which I had never seen before. Maybe they would have refused if I did not have O visa. I have been there for over 20 years so not really concerned about frozen accounts.

I opened up my Kasikorn bank account. But before I closed my BKB account I got them to update my bank book then closed the account... Restarting my 800,000 into my Kasikorn bank book

Go to a different branch. I went to the Central branch in Ubon, first they said they couldn’t , then they said they would freeze my account for four months, even though I was using the 65K a month method. I went to another branch and they printed a certificate with my name, account # and balance for 100฿

Depending on your extension just open another bank account at SCB or Kasikorn. Both can give you statement the same day. I use the monthly method. Kasikorn use to be able to authenticate that at Pattaya Klang but they moved the dept. to Laem Chebang. I have started doing all my monthly at SCB but the deposits are the only transactions. I am told they will print a one year statement and sign it and that will work. Won't know until next year. But Bangkok I gave up on three years ago. Too much hassle getting bank statement. I even got my letter with someone else's account number. I didn't catch that but immigration did

I think you can use multiple accounts for your extension, so you might have to get a letter and statement from both banks and present them both to immigration, just for the year you make the change. The best bet is to go to immigration and ask as each immigration office is likely to handle things differently and even if someone in this group has done it they were probably at a different office. As far as which bank I recommend Kasikorn as they can print the 12 month statement and produce the letter without having to pre-order, I just go in on my way to Immigration when I'm doing the extenstion and get the statement and letter.

When you do change, please change to yellow bank krungsri bank. I've been with then 23y. I wait for statement 10 mins and can get day before you go immigration. I also get krungsri to freeze that 800,000 and i get a cc card and one for my wife on my account. Yes i get no interest 5555 but here its only 1.1% per year minus 15% tax. Which you can claim back should you wish. I have never worked since i retired in uk anywhere.

What is the problem with bkk bank? You can apply forbrhe yearly statement through their app, or at the bank, both take 2 working days.

A word of advice: check your Immigration. KK IMMIGRATION, last year refused my income proof because I had 2 different bank statements. Their rules, whistle & ball.
