First arrival in Thailand on a DTV , and it was my first time visiting the country.
The immigration queue took around 20 minutes. I had all my documents prepared, but when I reached the counter, the officer just opend my passport and immediately called her supervisor. He took my passport and walked with me to a back room area where additional checks are done.
The officers were friendly and easy to talk to also had some side chat like the current storm in bangkok and how i might not be able to get a taxi and the best option for me is to take the train ( and she was right it took me way too long to find a taxi ) . They asked about my purpose of visit, whether it was my first time, my job, my funds, hotel booking, relatives in Thailand, and whether I was traveling alone.
I explained that I am an investor and own my own company in another neighbouring southeast asian country , showed my documents, confirmed I had a return ticket, and told them I planned to stay this time only for one month. they stamped me for 180 days.
that extra backroom area process took around 10 minutes , about 5 minutes waiting, a few minutes connecting to WiFi to show my company details, and only 2–3 minutes of actual questions.
After that, the officer walked me back to the immigration line area, took me directly to an empty counter, returned my passport. and the supervisor was at after the counter and gestured to me toward the baggage area.
Overall, a Relatively smooth experience. The extra check seemed like a verification process rather than scrutiny or a deep checking on all docs , and everyone was professional and Fair. ( my passport is considered one of the weakest in the world ) .
