What should I do if my DTV application for Thailand is pending after document submission in Pakistan?

**Applied for DTV - Workcation in Pakistan – Pending Documents Check

**

I applied for the DTV in Pakistan on 7th January. Here's the timeline of events:

1. 8th January: I received a request to submit my CNIC, hotel booking, and flight ticket. I promptly provided all the required documents.

2. 10th January: I was asked to submit a clear passport picture, a return ticket (yes, they requested a return ticket), and my hotel booking again. I explained that I don’t have a hotel booking because I’ve rented a property in Krabi with a lease valid until the end of June 2025.

My flights are landing and departing from Bangkok, which might have caused some confusion. If needed, I also have a flight ticket from Bangkok to Krabi that I can provide.

Since 10th January, my application status has remained on "Pending Documents Check."

I finally managed to reach the Thai Embassy after numerous attempts. I explained my situation and emphasized that my flight date is approaching. Unfortunately, the response was that the embassy has no control over the process and that I will receive an update once the headquarters (Bangkok Consular Department) approves my application. I requested if they could follow up with the headquarters, but the call was abruptly disconnected.

For context:

* When I initially applied for the DTV, the embassy staff suggested applying for a TR visa instead, as it reportedly has a higher chance of approval. However, as a Pakistani passport holder, a TR visa would allow only a 60-day stay with no extension under normal circumstances. Additionally, I wouldn’t be able to apply for a DTV from another country due to passport restrictions.

At this point, all I can do is wait and hope for the best.

Has anyone faced a similar situation? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is facing delays in their DTV (Digital Nomad) visa application for Thailand, which they submitted on January 7th in Pakistan. After multiple requests from the embassy for additional documents, the user has provided everything except a hotel booking, as they have a lease in Krabi. The application status remains on "Pending Documents Check," and despite attempts to follow up with the embassy, they have been told that only the Bangkok Consular Department can approve the application. The user is seeking advice from others who may have faced similar situations.

I see. Is there a time window to pay the fee or it should be fine if some time lapses e.g. i applied yesterday but what if I pay the fee middle of next week?

@Muhammad *****

@Muhammad *****
Ah thanks for confirming! If you're willing to share, was it a hassle free quick process (like you came, paid at the embassy and left at the same day) or I need to plan a couple days in ISB to get it done? 🙂

while applying, i submitted 6 months bank statement, with closing balance more than 500K Baht
Fasih *******
@Muhammad *****
Ah ok, so the balance wasn't over 500k for all the 6 months? That's what keeping me from applying right now.

@Fasih ******
if you have a substantial amount close to 500k they're going to see that you're financially viable so you top it up in the last month or so
Fasih *******
@Wannikea ********
Hi you mean it's OK if my balance went over 500k this month, and not on prior 5 months?
Wannikea *********
@Fasih ******
I'm saying if you had a lot of money in your account for 3 4 5 months and then added enough to bring it over 500,000 recently. A lot being most of it 350-400,000. You need to convince them you are financially self sufficient over a long period of time.

@Fasih ******
yes, it was not 500K for all 6 months. You can at least apply and then wait... or maybe check with any Official Agency linked with Thai embassy islamabad
Fasih *******
@Muhammad *****
Will do so now! Are you from Islamabad btw? I'm in Karachi and the site says fees can only be paid in person in Islamabad. You found that being the case for you?

@Fasih ******
Paying fees in person making you aware from lost rejected fees

Best of luck, bro! You might actually be one of the first, or even the very few, to apply for the DTV from Pakistan. I checked with the Thai Embassy in Karachi, and they mentioned that they haven’t received any applications for the DTV yet.

it almost feels like thailand is putting a hold on workation DTV visas. i’ve been waiting on mine since the beginning of december. meanwhile it sounds like there is a steady flow of ED visas being approved.

well good luck to both of us :)

It has only been a week. If it has to go to HQ for approval (this is the case for certain nationalities). It will therefore take longer

It looks like from your post the local embassy in Pakistan cannot make the decision? Has to be made in Bangkok?

it will be worth the wait just to stay there until you get it. Five years is a long time.
