What should I do if I didn't receive my COVID-19 test results from Doctor Karon Medical Clinic in Phuket before my flight?

WARNING!!!

Anyone staying in Phuket Karon area and using ‘Doctor Karon Medical Clinic’ beware. My Son & Family plus 20+ other people they met tonight did NOT receive their 24hr RT PCR Covid test results for an 8pm Qatar flight tonight! The clinic actually closed its doors as so many people were turning up wanting to know what’s going on and where were their results.

Very stressed out angry and tearful people still waiting.

Now need to find out how we get our 7,500baht back. Is this something we can claim from insurance?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A traveler and their family staying in the Karon area of Phuket reported that they did not receive their RT-PCR COVID-19 test results in time for their flight, causing significant distress. Despite being promised results within 24 hours, the clinic closed its doors with many customers left unanswered. The post expresses concern over how to recover the test fee of 7,500 baht and whether that can be claimed from insurance. The discussion includes various opinions, suggesting potential solutions like disputing the credit card charge and exploring the insurance claim process. Several comments also point out the impact of the New Year holiday on service delays.

Seems there are not enough labs in Phuket.

I would find a copy on the interweb, use photo shop and fix it.

There was no verification. You just need to letter that says you are negative.

On your older posts you mention UK and therefore I presume you were travelling to the UK. You could have got a Antigen for a cheap price and much quicker. In Bangkok they even have at the airport in 15 mins but I presume you were travelling from Phuket, so not sure down there. I did Antigen at a hospital and got certificate within a couple of hours as I had to wait for the Doc to arrive to sign it off, otherwise would have been quicker.

Also Do Not buy an RT-PCR for when you arrive in London - None Needed - I bought and Sent it Off and Got a refund...... £89 / So I was well Happy - and at CITY Airport there were no checks - just walk through to Pick up a Black Cab as i live in Stratford - Only 550 Bhats from Thailand to LCY - Well, that was the only bit of luck on the Holiday - All the Best in 2022

I used Antigen on 15th Dec but it can't be a self test as you need certificate to show at check-in. I did mine at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital in Bangkok. Also check on your airline becsuse some airlines may have their own different rules. I heard Ethiad for example require PCR but UK government are okay with Antigen as shown on UK gov website

So my last 2 weeks with my family was worry / worry / worry..... I'm Bad mouthing KLM and Not Thai Authorities..... Each Airline are Autonomous / Happy New Year - FAO -

Just walk down - It’s a mini hospital with units - and they make no mention of travelling…… it’s actually outside the Airport door……. but you know things change minute by minute…… Headless chicken syndrome - 😬😬😬

Still the check in staff at the airport won't accept that you wiped your arse with the certificate and therefore they would not let you board.

If you happened to pay by credit card the quickest way is to challenge the charge on your card . Make sure you have the documentation that you were paying for a 24 hour result.

just remember that your card will be canceled and a new one sent to your listed home address. This is the usual case.

Btw, telling a merchant you may challenge the charge usually gets you a refund. Because that hurts there score with the Credit Card companies (I have only had this work in the USA to be honest) And it is also a big reason many Asian businesses don't take credit cards. Sometimes they get dinged so much they cannot take credit cards, or they don't like to give that power to the customer.

Most of the time, they don't like to pay the fees or customers don't like it if the merchant charges them.

Credit Card transaction fees, for small businesses, in Asia are pretty rediculous compared to the West. Probably a lot of fraud.

Not for just a challanged charge. Usually if the card is stolen or missing.

Never had a card cancelled because of a challenged charge.

Maybe a debit card will. Then they have access into your bank account.
