Vientiane, Laos onward/return ticket requirement: What have you done to satisfy this? I know immigration may not ask, but I’m flying Thai airways and they’re usually quite strict. Obviously I don’t know what date I will be leaving Laos
Answer summary
Travelers flying to Vientiane, Laos, often face the question of whether to have an onward or return ticket. Although immigration might not strictly require it, airlines like Thai Airways can be more stringent. It's advisable to have an onward ticket booked to avoid potential issues at the airport, even if you're unsure of your exact departure date. If flexibility is important, consider purchasing a refundable or changeable ticket.

Anonymous participantIf you’re flying into Vientiane, I’d play it safe and have some genuine onward travel booked, even if you’re not sure of your exact departure date. Airline staff can be stricter than immigration, and some airline guidance lists a confirmed onward/return ticket as a requirement.
If your plans are flexible, I’d choose a refundable/changeable ticket so you can adjust it once you know your itinerary. I wouldn’t rely on immigration simply not asking.
