What questions can I expect during my DTV virtual interview for Thailand?

I applied for DTV at the Ankara Embassy as it’s the closest to Tbilisi where I’m staying. I just got and virtual interview request, I sent the email requesting the link as instructed.

What kind of questions can I expect ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV virtual interview for a Thailand visa will likely focus on your plans in Thailand and how you intend to support yourself. Expect questions about your reason for moving, your financial situation, and the details of any work or projects you plan to undertake. It's important to prepare documentation that demonstrates your financial stability and your work arrangements, particularly if applying under a Workcation category. Candidates are advised to relax, answer truthfully, and be ready to show proof of their bank balance during the interview.

Hi Mia, from our experience as a Thai Soft Power provider.. the embassies are typically looking to find out:

1) what you will spend your time doing in Thailand

2) how you plan to support yourself while living here

Generally, the approving officer wants to ensure you will not be moving to Thailand to find employment, be able to support yourself financially, and not fit the profile of someone who could be involved with any grey business.

This questions would also depend on the category of DTV visa you applied from. i.e. if you applied under Workcation/freelancer you should be ready to explain your portfolio/clients/contracts or employment details for remote work.

For Soft Power, your story and purpose of moving to Thailand should make sense. Interest in Thai culture / cooking etc. Hope this helps

May I ask when you applied and what your intended date of arrival is?

My husband applied on 13 January, but we have not received any updates since then. His arrival date is 27 February, seem like we have to wait until 27 Feb. 😳

I sent a message on 28 January, and the embassy replied that they would look into it. However, if we do not receive any updates, we may need to follow up again next week. 😊

I applied successfully for several visas in Ankara. Never had an itv, but my experience was that they were slow and not very responsive. However, they did not seem to be extremely picky or strict. They did answer our concerns a couple of times on FB messenger, definitely your best bet to contact them (e-mailing and calling was useless in our case).

The itv should not be much of an issue. Just relax and answer their questions truthfully. They just aim to verify the statements you made during the application process, I guess.

My first question would be, what's your entry scheme?

I’m doing workcation :)

For proof of work I made a nice packet with cover letter explaining what was on each page of the pdf like a table of context.

I gave a letter from HR on company letter head confirming I’m allowed to work in my position remotely we don’t do work with Thai people etc, my company offer letter from when I first got hired, I’ve worked there for 5 years. I showed my recent raise approval letter from last year. My last 3 months of pay stubs. My w9 from 2025 showing all monies I made at my job. My last 3 months bank statements with payroll deposits high lighted.

For proof of funds I put my last 3 months of revolute saving statements showing more than 500,000 thb (but in USD)

For proof of physical location I made a packet with explanation cover letter. I put my incoming flight ticket confirmation from the airlines of when I entered Tibilisi, a copy of my entry stamp in my passport as a copy of the payment confirmation for the current Airbnb I’m in

You will be asked basic questions on your application, reasons for the DTV etc. Be prepared to show your bank balance online.

Yeah, that should be fine. With interviews you are often asked to show it. The interview is not as bad as it seems. You will be fine.

thb my main concern is that when I search for the Ankara embassy on this group. A few people have said that they were scheduled interviews and requested the link but the embassy never sent it.

I’m applying from Tibilisi in the next country over, it’s set up this way on the evisa platform as the closest embassy. So I can’t show up to the embassy in person if they don’t send me the link as it’s in Türkiye and I applied from Georgia 😓

I hope this isn’t the case though. I’ve messaged them on Facebook before and they never respond but they always view the message

You can relax, generally interviews just go through the information that you've already submitted. You sound like a smart, organized, girl, you'll ace this.
