TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on switching from an ED visa to a volunteer visa, asking about any specific precautions or information beyond common knowledge. Comments suggest that changing visa types is possible, particularly when within 30 days of the current extension, provided that necessary documentation from both the educational institution and the volunteering organization is obtained.

As a rule they allow reason for extension changes when you have 30 days or less left on your current extension IF you meet the requirements for the new reason you're applying for an extension.

You would get a letter from your school stating you are stopping studying on xxx date, and you would get ALL the documentation required from the place you volunteer at to get an extension.

You cancel the ED extension and immediately apply for a new extension based on volunteering.

So you are on an extension of stay from the immigration office based on education right? AND you're wanting to switch the REASON for your extension to one based on volunteering?
