Happy holidays everyone! Regarding to RT-PCR test’s 72 hour mark prior to departure, is it referring to testing time or report issuance time? Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 72-hour RT-PCR test requirement prior to departure refers to the time you took the test, not when you receive the results. However, it is important to also check the specific policies of the airline and the countries involved, as different locations may have varying requirements.

From the time you get results.

But you need to check also airline policy and country policy. For example transiting through Singapore it needs to be 48 hrs from time you took the test till tine you take your flight

It’s actually 2 days for Singapore . So any time the day before or the day before that

The time you took the test. Not when you get the results.

I read from Thailand embassey the English wording pointing up 72 hours from result date.., yet intuitively I felt 72 hours from testing time makes more sense … because of holidays’ weird lab schedule..the embassy website’s version favours me …

That makes no sense. Everywhere I've traveled it's based on the test time. Your intuition is right ..and logical. Hopefully you get the benefit of the confusing wording

it says results, not when the test was taken.

Not sure where the confusion comes from

If you read the information from a Thai Consulate or Embassy, you will learn the 72 hours begins when you receive the results.
