I know people who paid an agent 60,000 to 80,000 to do DTV for them. I really do not understand why as the process is so simple.

you apply online. They send you a QR code which you use this to pay. The interview comes long after that.

Do you need to go in person to pay the fee in cash? Or is it possible to pay online?

most you can do online but in Laos you must go in person. I went to the bank in Laos and swapped the currency to baht. Pretty straight forward. Just need a passport.

If I have an app and I can pay with the QR code they provide then I don't need to go in person to pay right?

always get one at Laos it’s mandatory unfortunately. Just want to see proof of money on your phone and check the bank account is actually in your name. Other questions just regard work and what you want to do in Thailand. Also to show proof of clients payments in your bank account.
