DTV Application Approved in Indonesia (Bali)!!!
Just wanted to share my recent DTV application experience, as reading other people’s posts in this group helped me a lot.
I applied under the Workcation (remote worker/freelancer) category through the Thai Embassy in Indonesia while staying in Bali, and my application was approved.
The documents I initially submitted included:
• Passport biodata page
• Recent passport-style photo
• 6 months of bank statements showing funds above the required threshold
• CV / resume
• Portfolio and professional profile links
• Invoices and proof of ongoing freelance work from the last 6 months
• Cover letter explaining my work and freelance activities
• Proof of accommodation in Bali
• Flight ticket to Bali
After submission, I received an online request for additional documents. I was not called for an interview.
The embassy requested:
• A full scan of my passport (all pages)
• A clearer version of my bank statements covering the most recent 3 months
• Proof of accommodation in Thailand
For the updated financial documents, I prepared a more organised PDF clearly showing the relevant accounts, balances and supporting information.
For proof of accommodation in Thailand, I provided:
• A one-month accommodation booking in Bangkok
• Proof of ownership of my condo in Chiang Mai, which I purchased about 4 months ago and where I plan to stay
One thing that helped a lot was using AI to organise the application. Claude probably did 90% of the work in helping me create a professional PDF package with clear sections, explanations and supporting documents. That said, I always carefully reviewed everything myself, as AI can sometimes move information around, make assumptions or introduce small mistakes. It’s a great tool for organisation, but don’t rely on it blindly.
A few things I learned:
• Make sure your bank statements clearly show your name and account details.
• Present your financial evidence as clearly as possible, especially if you use multiple currencies or accounts.
• Include plenty of evidence of ongoing remote work (invoices, contracts, portfolio, website, LinkedIn, etc.).
• Label documents clearly and keep everything well organised.
• The easier you make it for the officer to understand your situation, the better.
Once I submitted the additional documents online, the process moved forward smoothly and the visa was approved.
Hope this helps anyone preparing their application. Happy to answer general questions based on my experience.
