DTV soft power application HCMC: I applied on 4/22 and within a few hours, it went to pending approval. I know there are two holidays this week. I have my anticipated arrival date at May 17th. Just curious if anyone else applied around this date and has been approved.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the approval process for DTV soft power applications at the HCMC consulate, particularly experiences of various applicants who applied around late April 2025. Many expressed concerns about delays, citing holidays and inefficiencies at the HCMC office compared to other locations. Several users reported awaiting their approvals since applying on April 22 or earlier, while some shared their success stories of receiving approvals in early May. Overall, it highlights the varying experiences and timelines involved in obtaining visa approvals from this consulate.
I've been in Thailand for three years now. Started with 3 month visa, extensions, then a one-year student visa, then another tourist visa. Last year 3 (!) border runs, this year 2 more.
This time, the IO looked at my passport a little more closely, but didn't say anything, just gave me a slightly annoyed look.
HCMC doesnt seem very efficient compared to Hanoi or some of the other embassies. I have also seen it suggested that they may process applications based on departure date from Vietnam rather than when applications are recieved, so you may be de-prioritised if you allowed a long time for the processing
Anonymous participant 861 i been waiting since 17.4 😭 i had to keep extending my accommodation in nha trang waiting for approval. Idk why its taking so long
Anonymous participant 861 I am also surprised it has taken so long. I decided to go ahead and cancel my accommodations, as my travel date is approaching and I’m concerned I won’t have a visa yet.
