Hello, I just got back from suvannakhet. I would recommend people stay in the area of pilgrims kitchen and inn. I stayed at the Avalon and it was a 2 kilometer walk to the good restaurants. The soi dogs are very aggressive after dark.

Oh the hotels are all about 800 per night. The booking.com rate doesn't include tax, so I paid 800 instead of 5 or 600 baht

The Avalon is very close, maybe a 10 minute walk. Pilgrims inn is farther, a 30 minute walk. I made a deal with the Tuktuk driver to pick me up at the hotel, wait for me to collect my passport and drive me to the bridge for 150 baht. There was a drunk and belligerent guy in front of me arguing with the consulate worker, so it took 20 minutes to collect instead of 1 minute.
