What concerns should I have about obtaining a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa for 7 months in Thailand?

I’m hoping to spend 7 months in Thailand and currently trying to get a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa from Canada right now but they have asked for a detailed account of what I am going to be doing during my stay. So I have asked the KPT Language school if I can pay for a 4 month course ‘Thai for Beginners’ in advance, from Canada. I was going to enrol regardless but I had wanted to do it in Thailand - but that’s fine. My question is: I was relying on applying for a 30 day extension and doing a land border bounce through an agent - after reading many posts, I am worried now. Do you think I will have issues?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) from Canada to stay in Thailand for 7 months. They have initiated enrollment for a 4-month Thai language course in advance and initially planned to apply for a 30-day extension and use a border bounce to renew their visa. Concerns arise about potential complications based on advice from community members. Responses indicate that as long as they demonstrate genuine tourism purposes and plan their exits from Thailand accordingly, they should generally have no issues with obtaining the METV or extending their stay using border runs.

I'm curious about how the application is worded. I'm (US) currently in Thailand on an METV and was only asked to choose from a drop-down list stating my purpose of travel to Thailand, from which I chose "Tourism". Beyond that I provided proof of an outbound flight within the first 60 days of the visa.

You can try to bounce to another country. Just note that if they IO suggests that you should get a longer term visa. Do it.

There isn't a posted number of multiple entries you are allowed in a year.

Canadian here .

I do this every year ...many years

Just phone and ask ,they will.help..

Sometimes it's a long wait ,but they do answer .

Do a flight out of Thailand before the end of your first visa (60 ) days

No issues.

If you are in Thailand for legit tourism, for 7 months, you will be fine. Enter for 60 days visa exempt and extend once for 30 days for 1900 baht. Then use a border bounce agency and repeat. If you want to get past 180 days, you will need a second border bounce, just use and agency. Have fun

To qualify for the METV you must show a trip out of Thailand within the first 60 days and then a trip back to Thailand anytime after that. The METV is issued based on need so you have to show your travel plans otherwise you'll just get a single entry tourist Visa. No need to talk about the course you're taking or plan to take. With a well-timed border bounce you can get almost 9 months out of the METV Visa
