What should I expect?

I entered on a 90 day non-immigrant O visiting family (married to a Thai lady). Did all the right things. Got cell phone, opened bank account (K bank green one), seasoned money (used wise). Applied to extend visa for a year. Putham Thani immigration. Now they come for a visit. What should I expect?

Two officers came to visit. I had to bring in two neighbors who they questioned. They took pictures of all of us in four different locations with me holding my passport open. Took 20 minutes. The lead officer told me I was approved and to return to the immigration office on the day my stamp expires. Not too bad.
Answer summary
When expecting a home visit from Thai immigration for a Non-Immigrant O visa extension, anticipate a relatively straightforward process. Officers may interview neighbors and take photographs to confirm your marriage and residence in Thailand. Prepare light snacks and drinks, but avoid offering money to prevent any allegations of bribery. Generally, the visit is a formality to ensure the legitimacy of your marriage and living situation, and past experiences suggest that the officers tend to be friendly and polite.

We supplied the photos of us in our condo and at the door showing the number. A few days later four officers in full Immigration vests with cuffs etc came. We had to provide a witness who was photographed with us in exactly the Same shots as originally supplied. Over in five minutes and they were so polite and friendly.

Remember, every time the rules are updated there is an interregnum of confusion and inconsistency while each regional immigration officer calibrates the new level of extortion which the new schedule permits and the timeframe for which the corruption will go undetected.

Where possible, swap offices or wait about 6 months before lodging. That gives you one visa before the next rule change when it all kicks off again.

Or: Vietnam.

The visit is a proof, they will even go thru the wardrobe if you have clothes in the same closet Nothing wrong But if they hadn’t done it there would be millions in paper who qualify Just physical evidence

When we was visited it was one feller who we drove out to meet as he couldn't find the house. We gave him a bottle of water. He checked my passport and wife's lD then took a couple of photos of us in our bedroom. My two sister--in-laws were home and they just told him about all the renovations we had done as he was very impressed with the house and gardens. That was that basically 🙏🏼

This visit by your local Thai Immigration Office to your home is part of the Under Consideration (U/C) time period of a Thai Wife Extension of Stay and thus why in your Passport there is an "Under Consideration" Stamp for approximately 1 month, then after this visit, you would get the 1 Year Extension of Stay Stamp in your Passport at the conclusion of your Under Consideration Stamp

One time my neighbor who was supposed to be a witness for the interview got mad at the 2 officers for being late. She actually scolded them - told them to get their shit together & do their jobs. They promptly terminated the interview and left. I just stood there in disbelief. How could she do that! Monday morning we went to the immigration office & told them what happened. I apologized for my rude neighbour's behavior. They just smiled, said no problem & processed my visa.

Easy part. Talk to neighbours, asking how often you stay there, take some photos inside and in front of house and done

Prepare some light snacks & drinks, he/she will be spending some time with your direct family members & neighboors for interviews. Dont worry about it, just a formality. The fact that he/she will call you and make an appointment, that means you are 95% almost guaranteed to receive your Non-Imm O yearly extension.

Unless, ofcourse during their visitation, you happen to get drunk and beat 'em, then you can kiss goodbye to your Non-Imm O visa and be deported.

PS. It's okay to hand 'em some takeaway snacks before they leave, but do NOT give them money. Things could get real ugly if they charge you with bribery act.

Jomtien immigration visited my brother. They basically just showed up, had a cup of coffee, took some pictures of them inside and in front of the house and then left.

Arrest and deported 😂😂😂

OK home visit is part of the process. They will speak to neighbours or friends to confirm the relationship. I believe they need to provide house book and ID card. Perfectly normal. They take 1 pic of me and the wife and she deal with everything else.

If they come they'll have a chat with you and maybe a neighbour or two, take a couple of pics probably and be on their way. The purpose is purely to establish that you and your wife actually live together
