I have a few questions in regards to banking...

1. Do only certain banks do accounts for 90 Day non immigrant o visa holders? If so which ones.

2. Or do only certain ones meet the requirements for the extension application?

3. Has anyone done a Dime! Foreign Currency Deposit account with KKP? Looks like the FCD account gives 5% APR in first $3000usd, then 3% in $3001-$30000usd. Plus, they have investment account on the Dime! app where you can buy international stocks. Does that count toward ฿800000 minimum balance requirement? If not what bank offers best rate on the money that has to sit there as proof?

4. If you extend and stay 180 or more days, do you have to show proof that the money remitted was earned before January 1, 2024?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses banking questions for 90 Day Non-Immigrant O Visa holders in Thailand. Key points include: 1) Most Thai banks accept applications if requirements are met, with Bangkok Bank being more difficult compared to others like Kasikorn, SCB, and Krungthai. 2) Extensions require evidence of funds in Thai bank accounts, not foreign investments or stocks. 3) For the minimum balance requirement, cash must be readily accessible, casting doubt on the viability of high-yield foreign currency deposit accounts. 4) There is no need to show proof of funds earned before January 1, 2024 unless using a monthly banking method.

Non O visa, 90 days, is asking for you proper bank account statement.

No mickey mouse bitconis or whatever else, just your hard cash in your home country bank.

The way u ask questions 1&2 seems you don't know how it works it thailand.....a different branch of a certain bank might accepts or rejects your application...some are more lenient and some are more strict demanding documents for opening a bank acct....you just need to hop to the next branch when rejected...Q3 the immigration only accepts thai bank acct while doing yearly extensions Q4 unless you are using the monthly bankin method you don't need to proof

It is certain branches not certain banks so if denied at one branch there is nothing stopping you trying another branch of the same bank

1 an 2. All thai banks are good if you meet the requirements to open an account.

Bangkok bank is the hardest and gives more grief.

Kasikorn, Scb and Krungthai are very reasonable.

3 stocks not acceptable needs to be cash in thai account.
