TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the confusion regarding RT-PCR testing requirements for travelers entering Thailand, particularly those involved in the Phuket Sandbox program. Many commenters express frustration with the lack of guidance and the responsibilities of hotels in providing testing options. It is clarified that travelers must book and pay for two RT-PCR tests as part of their entry requirements into Phuket, while hotels in Bangkok usually include testing in their packages. Useful links for booking tests and advice on documentation for the Thai Pass application are shared.
Yes - SHA Hotel - (Pay for That) - then separate is (In my Case Hotel will ask 7,500 for PCR test lady to come to your room on day 1 and day 5) - That will all be emailed from Hotel in a 2-page document - Page One is a hotel and Page 2 is for the 2 PCR tests) - I made several calls to the Hotel and they were very Helpful - Travelodge Pattaya - Very Empathetic, and the lovely lady said - "Yes, sir - Very confusing, but I am your assigned Hotel Assistant) - I got Lucky - ☘
It's not the hotels responsibility to know you are entering the country and they don't expect to test every person coming to hotel. Some hotels don't even have RT-PCR testing. I booked with Agoda initially and then tried to schedule the testing and pickup with the hotel. Total Cluster F$#@. Had to go directly to the hotels site and rebook with a testing package and cancel my Agoda booking.
If your booking for phuket its up to you to book the 2 pcr tests. Bangkok should be part of the hotel package. Must be a hotel on the approved list. On the application under documents required for both sandbox and QA it does advise you need to supply proof of the 2 pcr tests booked and paid for. There is a link floating around to book for phuket pcr tests but sorry I don't have it.
