I have a one year extension as retiree thru 800000 baths system. I kept this amount for 3 months after extension and am now over 400000.

I will renew my visa when I am in France thru the the Thai embassy in Paris.

My question is: should I go back to 800000 2 months prior the current extension deadline or can I keep only 400000 as I will renew from abroad ?

Hope it is clear

Thks in advance

Marc

TLDR : Answer Summary
Marc is seeking advice on renewing his retirement visa while he is in France, specifically regarding the required bank balance before applying through the Thai Embassy. He currently has a one-year extension that requires 800,000 baht but wishes to reduce this amount after keeping it for three months. Responses clarify that he needs to maintain the 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account for two months prior to reapplying for his visa upon returning to Thailand, regardless of his application process through the embassy.

Swtching to 65k monthy income is only working if you can show a full year of transfers. So you need to start at or before you get your full year extensuon and wait one year.

Thank you. Let’s say I satisfy the online requirement to apply for non O visa before coming back to Thailand. To get the one year extension upon arrival in Thailand I will need to deposit
*****
0 baths ?

I thought the one year extension was based on the approval from Thai embassy in France.

I see you are confused, I made the same mistake: thinking that the rules of the embassy would be similar to those of Immigration - they’re not. So check with your local Imm office what is needed for a yearly extension and when back in France apply for new non-O and start over again and try to time it so you are in Th for next yearly renewal.

@Marc **********
no, the extension is done in thailand, whenever you leave thailand you get a re entry permit cost 1000 baht so youcan re enter on your existing visa or extension. You will now start again in france for a new visa
Stuart ***********
It looks like your visa will expire whilst you are in France, so you would need to start the process again, and would need to satisfy the online requirements to apply for the non O visa before coming to Thailand.

When in Thailand you would need to deposit 800,000 baht again for the first year extension. If you also make the monthly 65,000 baht deposits, for the second extension you can change.

I don't know if your Embassy in Thailand provides the income affidavit, if they do, you might be able to avoid the 800,000 baht deposit.

I don't think there's any other way, it is unfortunate as you are only out of the country for 2 months.

Thanks.

To make sure I am clear. I satisfy the online requirements to apply for the non O visa from France thru my monthly pension over 2000€.

To get the one year extension when I arrive in Thailand I will need to deposit
*****
0 immediately ? I thought the monthly pension required in France was enough.

I thought I would be able to transfer

monthly for the extension in 1 year time.

Thks for clarification

Sorry as mentioned. The year extension in Thailand, is that 800k฿ in y'r Thai bankaccount indeed, but the 12 monthly transfers of 65k฿ is not possible when the French Embassy still hands out the income statement.

65k฿ option is only possible (2nd year extension indeed), if y'r passport is from some countries as US, UK, Australia, Canada en thought 1 or 2 more.

Clear and thanks a lot

Have a nice day

@Marc **********
And I think that if y'r French Embassy in Bangkok still hands out the income statement, you even cannot use the 65k฿ a month method !
Peter ****************
@Marc **********
Doesn't the French Embassy hand out an income statement ? (If you have French passport ofcourse).

The monthly pension of at least 2.000 € Euros is only specific to the Thai Embassy in Paris for them to issue a Single Entry Non–O (based on over age 50 years old "retirement") Thai E–Visa

Now, using that Thai E–Visa Non–O from the Thai Embassy in Paris to make entry into Thailand, your local Thai Immigration Office in-country (in Thailand) will have different requirements for an Extension and you would be required to start again with ฿ 800.000 Baht, as you wish to use the ฿ 65.000 Baht/month method can only be done on a subsequent (year 2) Extension =

if you let your "year 1" Extension of Stay expire and then afterwards, go obtain a new Non–O E–Visa at the Thai Embassy in Paris, then that resets everything regarding Extensions of Stay obtained (only available in-country, in Thailand) and starting all over with 800k for Year 1, then could be able for the Year 2 Extension of 65k/month....

@Marc **********
I am unsure what the requirements are to get the non O in France, look online at the Embassy website. The only way your monthly pension will be accepted for the 12 month extension is if the France Embassy in Thailand will provide you with an income affidavit. If not, yes you will have to deposit 800,000 in your Thai bank account immediately. The 65,000 per month transfers only works for the second and subsequent annual extensions.

Renew extensions in Thailand only.

If done in Paris you will be starting the whole thing again.
Robert *******
The Thai Embassy in France has the requirement to apply for a NEW Non Immigrant O visa based on retirement, at least 24.000 Euro about 900.000 thb into a bank account for the last 3 months prior application.

Or at least 2000€ monthly pension

Why don't you just get a re-entry permit to keep your current extension valid?
Stuart ***********
@Lloyd *******
looks like his visa will expire whilst he's out of the country for 2 months, so I don't think a re-entry permit will help him?

ALL offices will let you apply for a new yearly extension when you have 30 days or less left on your stamp (and as people pointed out Bangkok, Chiang Mai and others allow you to do it when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp)

The 800K baht will have to be in the account for 2 months before you apply for the extension so if you're applying Sept 1st (a month before your current extension runs out, you need the account to have 800K baht in it by July 1st at the latest to hit the 2 month seasoning)

BUT

You definitely have time to get your new year extension AND a re-entry permit before you travel out of the country.

One last question😁

My extension ends on 01st of October and I leave on 15th of September. Can I get the one year extension in advance ?
Nick **********
@Marc **********
If you are using the immigration office of Bangkok, then you can go 45 days early for the extension.
Stuart ***********
@Marc **********
yes, that would definitely be much easier Marc. You can do it 30 days in advance and the time is added on to your current extension, so there's nothing to lose. Don't forget to get a re-entry permit at the same time. Good luck.
Lloyd ********
OK, you will not be renewing anything at the embassy in France, they will maybe issue you a single entry (90)day Non-O visa and then when you come back you would have to season the 800k for 2 months again and re-apply for a yearly extension.
Marc ***********

@Lloyd *******
I am confused. I Will get the single entry non O visa thru my pension being over 2000€ monthly. In addition to this I need to keep the

0 baths ?
John **********
@Marc **********
but that will only get you stamped in for 90 days and before that expires you need to go for a 12 month extension of stay which will require 800k baht in the bank for 2 months before you apply
Vin *********
@Marc **********
the Thai embassy cannot give you extension. Only immigration in Thailand. If you go to embassy in France, you start over from the beginning again. Because in France you are not an extension. You are a visa.

Yes, in France you can 65k each month visa.
Marc ***********
ORIGINAL POSTER
And I thought that getting it from France I could get rid of the
*****
0 system and start with the
*****
monthly transfer
John **********
@Marc **********
getting the visa in France makes no difference. You can only change to the 65k baht monthly income can only be done in 1 of 2 ways. If your embassy in bangkok issue an income affidavit/certificate then you go to the embassy and meet their criteria, get the certificate and use that for your extension. If they don't then you need a full 12 months of International transfers of a minimum of 65k each months before applying for an extension

@Marc **********
when you received your initial year retirement visa with the 800k in the thai bank.. you should have started the monthly transfer of the 65K at that time... then supply the immigration with bank document showing one year of 65K deposit from outside Thailand.. when you go for renewal of the retirement visa.. looks like you are going to be starting over with the initial 800k in the thai bank..
Marc ***********

Because I will be out of Thailand for 2 months when my 1 year extension ends

What the Thai embassy wants and what immigration wants are 2 totally different things. Why don't you just extend your stay at immigration in Thailand?
