Hello, and please forgive me in advance if this sort of question has already been asked! I'm a US citizen, and before COVID-19 happened, I was planning to relocate to Thailand in May 2020 on a one year multiple visa entry to start with. I cannot seem to get any information from the Thai Consulate in NYC regarding when visas will be processed or even available for processing. Can anyone please guide me regarding what is needed for a one year multiple visa entry, and how do I go about getting the ball rolling? I am also planning on relocating with a cat. I've heard that any foreigners coming into Thailand have a mandatory quarantine in a Thai sanctioned quarantine center. At this point, I would like to be in Thailand by August 1st, but I'm worried about buying a ticket, as I'm afraid I won't be allowed in. Any feedback or input regarding the above mentioned will be greatly appreciated , as I see that this is a great page for accurate information. Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen inquiring about a one-year multiple entry visa to Thailand is advised that there is no such visa available, only a six-month multiple entry tourist visa. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the borders are closed for foreigners, and it's recommended to wait until travel restrictions are lifted and visa processing resumes. Additionally, there are concerns regarding bringing pets into Thailand, with recommendations against it, and travelers should be cautious of mandatory quarantine requirements upon arrival.

With regards to future visa and visa requirements, no one in this group is in a position for forecast what types of visa will be available post-covid and what conditions will be attached. Take Robert Lagas' advice and wait until borders and embassies are open again before making any plans

I have the same plan, 1st August with cat.

I will enter at the first possible date on a Visa Exemption, then extension and after that Non O A Visa. Good Luck for both of us!

an O-A visa must be obtained in your home country.

My understanding is that you can only get a Non-OA in your home country.

At the moment the borders are closed for foreigners to enter Thailand until 30 Juni 2020. Most Thai consulates closed for visa applications, simply for the reason that the visa can not be used as entry is prohibited. You have to wait until borders and consulates open again.

Wait for the incoming flight ban and emergency decree to expire.

And for them to release requirements for travel into Thailand.

No point applying now and wasting potential time on your visa.

I assume requirements are the same plus some new ones.

There is no such thing as a one year multiple entry tourist visa. There is a 6 month multiple entry tourist visa though.

> am also planning on relocating with a cat

I wouldn't recommend bringing a cat with you. You are allowed 60 days on each entry, and if the Thai immigration believes you are abusing the system, you will be rejected at the border.

>I've heard that any foreigners coming into Thailand have a mandatory quarantine in a Thai sanctioned quarantine center.

We don't know what the requirements are to enter Thailand.

I doubt you'd be allowed in, the borders are closed.
