TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the fees for a 1-year visa to Thailand. The comments discuss clarifying the type of visa and the relevant Thai consulate where the application would be made, suggesting that documentation from an employer may be needed and that visa applications might differ based on the applicant's country of origin.

and on that note I believe we're done here. :/

You would get the documentation from your employer and apply for the visa at a thai consulate.

What country is your passport from?

Some countries must apply for the thai visa at the consulate in their home country.

and what thai consulate would you be getting a visa at and for what reason?

are you asking a question?

I'm not arguing about the paperwork nor have I once, read what I've said, they obviously do all the paperwork together, but you can't be issued with a work permit until you've obtained an appropriate visa. I'm not able to walk into the Labor Office and get a work permit on a tourist visa for example :)

And this is a receipt that you applied for a work permit (although it's an old one)

@Duncan ******
, I'm saying you could have applied for a work permit before you get a Non-B visa.

If you went out of the country to get your Non-B visa from a thai consulate and didn't go to the Hong Kong consulate, in your documentation for the Non-B visa was a receipt that your employer had applied for a work permit for you. Otherwise you wouldn't have gotten the Non-B.

This is right off the documentation requirements for Vientiane :

Duncan, NO, the application used is named WP3 application method, with means foreigner is abroad. When all documentations are correct the Ministry of Labor provides a letter and an application approved form (also called WP3). With these papers and company papers you apply for the Non Immigrant B Visa and after you enter Thailand you visit Ministry of Labor to collect your Work Permit.

So you're now saying that I could have had a work permit before I had a Non-Imm B? Chiang Mai must be Thai Irish then I guess either that or I must have imagined it all :)

actually
@Dun***
your employer has to apply for a work permit for you and include the receipt of having done it in the documents you give to the thai consulate.

Once you come back into the country on your Non-B you get the work permit issued to you

The only consulate in the area that will issue a Non-B without proof of you having applied for a work permit is the one in Hong Kong.

@Robert ******
Actually it works the other way around - you get the Non Imm B first then the work permit - but the paperwork for both have to be arranged by your employer.

@Yu***
, First your employer goes to apply for the Work Permit and with papers provided from Ministry of Labor and your employer you can apply for a Non Immigrant B visa.

I want to do some work in the Thailand and therefore 1 year visa required.

@Yu***
what is the reason you would be applying for a visa?

You CANNOT get a one year visa inside of thailand :/ You can get a 90 day visa and then apply for a year extension by meeting the requirements

OR

you go to a thai consulate and buy a one year visa from them, again by meeting the requirements.
