The post inquires about the fees for a 1-year visa to Thailand. The comments discuss clarifying the type of visa and the relevant Thai consulate where the application would be made, suggesting that documentation from an employer may be needed and that visa applications might differ based on the applicant's country of origin.

I'm not arguing about the paperwork nor have I once, read what I've said, they obviously do all the paperwork together, but you can't be issued with a work permit until you've obtained an appropriate visa. I'm not able to walk into the Labor Office and get a work permit on a tourist visa for example :)

And this is a receipt that you applied for a work permit (although it's an old one)
, I'm saying you could have applied for a work permit before you get a Non-B visa.
If you went out of the country to get your Non-B visa from a thai consulate and didn't go to the Hong Kong consulate, in your documentation for the Non-B visa was a receipt that your employer had applied for a work permit for you. Otherwise you wouldn't have gotten the Non-B.
This is right off the documentation requirements for Vientiane :

Duncan, NO, the application used is named WP3 application method, with means foreigner is abroad. When all documentations are correct the Ministry of Labor provides a letter and an application approved form (also called WP3). With these papers and company papers you apply for the Non Immigrant B Visa and after you enter Thailand you visit Ministry of Labor to collect your Work Permit.

So you're now saying that I could have had a work permit before I had a Non-Imm B? Chiang Mai must be Thai Irish then I guess either that or I must have imagined it all :)
Actually it works the other way around - you get the Non Imm B first then the work permit - but the paperwork for both have to be arranged by your employer.
, First your employer goes to apply for the Work Permit and with papers provided from Ministry of Labor and your employer you can apply for a Non Immigrant B visa.
