What are the current requirements for a border run at Padang Besar and are there any recommendations for timing around December 24?

Did someone do a recent border run at Padang Besar? Have there been any requirements like a onward ticket, hotel booking or obligation to stay a day in Malaysia before re-entering?

And would they work on Dec 24 or is it better to leave then at 23?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent traveler reported successfully crossing at Padang Besar after staying two nights in Malaysia, without any issues or unexpected fees. They did not require an onward ticket for re-entry and received a 45-day extension. However, there are other anecdotal accounts of individuals being turned away, emphasizing the importance of checking current updates on border crossings. As for timing, there are no definitive details about operations on December 24, but some advise considering travel on December 23 to avoid potential holiday-related delays.

Hi. I went by private car through the border at Sadao 3 days ago. I stayed two nights in Malaysia, and re-entered through Pedang Besar. No issues at Pedang Besar, and no unexpected fees. Received 45 more days. I listed my friends house (I have registered the address with Hat Yai immigration previously). They did not ask about an onward ticket.

Side note: not sure if it matters, but I still had three weeks left on my previous entry, but I wanted to get one more trip to Malaysia before the end of the year.

I read a story online a couple of weeks ago - people decided to bounce on their own, but were turned around at Padang Besar crossing and sent to Satun / Khuan Don (which worked just fine, zero hassle from the officers)

There just aren't a lot of posts anywhere on the inter-web of people bouncing out and back in the south at any of the crossings with Malaysia.

post on a group related to southern thailand or the islands and see if you get any good answers.
