Howdyβ π€ !! Some of the online phone services advised to me by this group have unfortunately not been very viable solutions or maybe the way they offer their services has changed between now and then. Whatever the reasons, I need to find a new solution. I have some business to clear up with Uncle Sam. I realize this is a stretch in a world overrun by tech but, is there a place that sells overseas calling cards?... π€ I need to ring America- π TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is seeking alternatives to online calling services for making calls to the USA while in Thailand. Suggestions from the community include using the local Thai carriers' special dialing codes that offer cheaper rates (approximately 1 baht per minute), purchasing overseas calling cards from shops, and using apps like Skype and Call Muang Thai. Users shared details about various carriers and their specific codes for making international calls at reduced rates.
I've had no problems phoning UK on AIS using the cheap code with charges around 5 baht per minute. The code is

44 and I guess it's the same for USA but using their country code. Remember not to use the + sign.

Why not just use your Thai carrier and dial internationally using one of the special codes that allow super-cheap special rates to call overseas. All 3 carriers have a cheaper code that charges at 1 baht a minute for calls to the USA, and a more expensive "premium quality" version code that charges 2.5 baht a minute. Either way is way cheaper than dialing an international call using the normal "+" format. For dtac, dial

then the country code, area code and phone number. Calls to the USA are 1 baht a minute. Or use their "premium quality" code instead which is 004 + country code etc which costs 2.5 baht a minute. For example, dialing New York City using the premium code would be dialed as something like 004-1-212-XXX-XXXX. There are similar codes for True (

and 006) and AIS (

and 005) which charge the same 1 baht/2.5 baht a minute.
One is higher audio quality. The cheaper one sometimes on a call can sound like internet telephony, versus the premium one sounding like any normal phone call.
