TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around seeking recommendations for neck surgery in Bangkok due to a pinched nerve. Many commenters advise exploring non-surgical treatments first, such as physiotherapy, chiropractic care, osteopathy, and massage therapy, suggesting that these methods could alleviate symptoms and potentially avoid unnecessary surgery. Specific hospitals and doctors are mentioned, including BNH, Bumrungrad, and Dr. Decha at Bangkok Hospital, with varying personal experiences shared regarding the outcomes of surgical and non-surgical treatments.

Exhaust your non invasive options first.

But spinal surgery has advanced a lot in just the last 10-15 years.

I worked in the Neuro ICU at UCSF, and the Doctors did incredible work.
Matt *********
But it was always a multidisciplinary team effort too.

It’s critical surgery, research before you go to hospital. Is it c5? Are you going for fusion surgery?

Don't get surgery for a pinched nerve. Try a good Physiotherapist or proper massage therapist

Whatever you end up doing, don't get it fused. Total disk replacement only.

I had a rock climbing accident years ago and my C4/C5 and C5/C7 were 13mm and 8mm, respectively, pushing into my spinal cord. I actually got physical therapy and gym workouts to build the muscles around my spine to fix it. It has hard going at first but it eventually corrected. Haven't has issues in many years.

If you do decide to get surgery, one of the worlds leading total disk replacement doctors is at St Lukes Global City in Manila, of all places. I don't remember his name but you can Google total disk replacement St Lukes Global City philippines" and find articles about him. He performed the world's first double total disk replacement and was going to do a triple but I never stayed up on it to see how that went.

I've had same problem numbness in my left pinky and ring finger a few years ago now getting same for the right side ..: I just go on .. doctor suggested surgery as well but said its not 100% cure , it might come back later also ... it's a factor of getting older ... the pain is not pain ... just numbness , irritating but better than being cut open and the cortisone injections didn't work well and needing to repair and repeat a few years down the road again ... I use a handheld thumping massage machine to relax the muscles... sort of helps ... no surgeries for me .. just my take ... I just don't want to be put under/knocked out ... lots of things can go wrong when you're put under ..

Good luck on your decision

I had a compressed in neck due to a disc rupture, it is hell to live with and nothing will fix it only surgery. I had surgery on the Gold Coast Australia by a Nero surgeon, with in 3 months I was completely pain free, best thing I ever done, would do it tomorrow again in a heart beat.
Dennis ***********
@Emile *******
Exactly-that’s one of the consequences of the surgery (limited neck motion)No personal but my friend,wished he stayed with therapy.

@Michael ******
Same with me, only in USA. I lived in pain for years taking Vicodin. I wish I would have had the surgery sooner. 6 titanium screws & plate in my neck…C5-C7

@Dennis ******
why fused? Were you given prosthetic discs as an option? I am currently contemplating surgery
Emile ********
Probably missed the part where it was directed at your comment rookie 😂😂🤦‍♂️
Dennis *******
@Emile *******
really? Your first word was nonsense! Whatever buddy have a good one not gonna argue with fb pros.
Emile ********
@Dennis ******
I did not say his experience was nonsense I said it’s nonsense that operating is the only way. How do you know his experience since we both got the same info and you’re contradicting yourself here mate. Just because yours worked out one way doesn’t mean it’s the same for him. I swear fb is the ultimate pweh
Dennis *******
@Emile *******
why is his experience nonsense? Just cause yours worked doesn't mean his didn't. You don't know his medical stuff so why make such a nonsensical comment?

I had c6 c7 fused in Nov and its already back to 100%. I swear FB is the bane of our existence
Emile ********
@Michael ******
nonsense! I had the same thing and went for physical therapy and I’m 100 % now. If I listened to a brainless doctor I’d had surgery for nothing, wouldn’t be able to turn my neck fully and wasted a lot of money
Stephen ********
Get a professional massage person. Dont go for surgery!!!!
Ron **********
Surgery should be the very last option
Sanjeev *******
Rama 9 hospital Bangkok
Stuart ********
Is it just a pinched nerve or are you talking about compressed nerve due to disc rupture and cervical spine degeneration?

A pinched nerve can over time dislodge and pain disapears.

You need to be more specific on your problem.

I have had cervical disc fusion on 3 spine levels using titanium plates and screws in Thailand.

U should be more specific.

I have what you mentioned first, compressed nerve from herniated discs

Been given surgery as an option. . Can I ask your thoughts? Have tried the physical therapy route, helps with the muscular pain but nothing relieves the nerve pain and constant tingling/numbness which is difficult to endure all day and night

Chiropractor or a damn good old fashioned massage,maybe a happy ending.(ON YOUR NECK.)
