TLDR : Answer Summary
An expat in Thailand seeks advice on starting a savings plan for their child's education. Commenters suggest various options including savings accounts with banks that offer insurance packages, low-risk deposits at Bangkok Bank, and investments in gold. Recommendations were made for consulting with a financial advisor (AIA) who speaks English, and some users proposed alternative investments like Bitcoin and buying land.

Put your money into the Bangkok Bank at a low risk deposit and low steady interest. Buy gold at scrap value.

Mogens Nygaard, yes you are right. I was only comparing current value to purchase value.

Buy property in his name and get a long lease on it so you can use the property.

Hire a good lawyer to draw up the deal.

Buying Stocks Like denominated in A ME R[gin Currency is something don jr would sugest. Frankly, putting it on a spin of a roulette wheel would be less risky. When Andrews son is 30 he could be mature enough to make decisions for himself.

, I have purchased three houses and one property that my son will eventually inherit in Thailand. The 1 rai property has quadrupled in value over the 12 years that we have owned it.

Interesting idea. Can a 6 year old "buy land"? And in a fashion where the, say, grandma can't just take it.

Banks have savings plans which includes life insurance and a bunch of other things in 1 package. They have like 5 year plans, 10, 15 and so on. If you have an account I would go visit them for more details

You won't earn anything of real value using a bank or savings account. You'll need to invest it. Take at least a small portion and buy some bitcoin. People will hate on this answer mostly because they have a poor understanding about it, but the upside potential is enormous. Be careful about letting other people invest your money. You will be parted from it very quickly.

I have friends that have made millions off of it. They invested around 8 years back, before the craze haha.

Me personally, I tend to invest in real estate and development projects only and that market has a high roi as well if you know what you are doing.
